Long Marston 54, A.Lee 8-18, Cumnor 57-3, C. Mitty 30

Cumnor wrapped up this match before 4:30 after a dramatic batting collapse inspired by the gentle pace and swing of left arm bowler Ali Lee. The match started in odd fashion with only 4 Long Marston players on the ground and having won the toss their stand in skipper could only elect to bat on a patchy looking wicket at Wootton and Boars Hill. Lee, electing to bowl up the hill, struck in his second over with a tame caught and bowled chance from the dangerous looking Marston opener. With the added distraction of an air show at nearby Dalton Barracks, Lee had the first 4 back in the pavilion thanks to another simple catch to Tony Munsey at extra cover as well as a fine stumping by Chris Mitty.

A bowling change at the other end saw Gus Shrimpton replace skipper Bowerman and the reward was a wicket for Shrimpton. A fifth wicket for Lee due to a smart change in the field followed by a second for Shrimpton saw Marston reeling at 40-7. Lee wrapped up the innings to finish with a career best 8-18 from 13.5 overs, with Shrimpton finishing with 2-17 from his 8.

The Cumnor reply was swift with Chris Mitty and Saul Cobbing adding 30 in double quick time before Cobbing fell to a yorker on 12. Mitty continued to play well and hit 2 big sixes before being adjudged lbw on 30. Ian West's miserable run of form continued thanks to another odd decision from the away umpire, so it was left to Munsey to hit the winning runs.

Cumnor 30 points, Long Marston 4
